In the traditional recipe the chana dal is deep fried, but in this recipe we roasted the dal in a an oven. But you can also use an air fryer to make it healthy. Top the roasted or fried chana dal with onions, green chillies and chaat masala to make a delicious tea time snack. True flavor of Indian food comes from the street.

Instructions to make Chatpatta Dalyia:
  1. Wash and soak jaw, chana daal and daliya seprately for minimum 30 min.add oil in a pot, add sliced onions. Fry to light golden add chop tomato skinless, red chilli, salt, haldi, ginger garlic paste. Fry the masala till tomatoes are soft mashy and oil seprates out. Add dahi and fry.
  2. When masala is blended and oil seprates add drained Dalyia, daal, jaw 1 cup water.giveone quick boil then reduce heat to medium and cook till daal and jaw are soft tender. Stir in between to avoid lumps. Add more water as needed.
  3. Let the Dalyia cooked on low to medium heat. Stir time to time and give ghoota also to hv a smooth texture dalyia. It can be blended in blender or beat with beater.cooked till desired texture or consistency.
  4. Make bhagar with zeera, sabut lal mirch and sliced onion. Garnish with ginger julians, chop coriander and green chillies, lemon wedges and chaat masala. Serve hot and enjoy with Cookpad.
