  1. Soak rice for 30 min.Drain excess water
  2. Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add zeera, black cardamom and cinnamon stick. Shallow fry
  3. Add rice and fry it for 2 mins then add 2 cups of water and salt.
  4. Cook on high flame so that the water evaporates, and then cover it with any lid and cook on low flame for 2-3 mins. DO NOT COVER WITH THE PRESSURE COOKER LID. YOU CAN USE ANY OTHER LID WHICH FITS WELL.
  5. Now the recipe for Dal, boil Dal in pressure cooker.
  6. Heat oil in a kadai. Add chopped onion. Fry till golden brown. Add tomatoes, turmeric, red chilli, coriander, garam masala powder and salt.Add some water and mix well for 7-8 mins
  7. Now add the boiled Dal into the kadai mixture and mix well. Cook for 5 mins.
  8. Now the Tadka, heat butter in a pan. Add Zeera, mustard seeds,hing and dried chilli.fry for a min and add this to the cooked dal.
  9. Garnish Dal with coriander leaves and serve with yummy Zeera rice!
