- Prepare 600 g firm tofu - cubed
- Get 200 g minced meat

Remove from boiling water and drain. Chop leek or green onions into short lengths. Mapo Tofu is a popular Chinese dish from Sichuan Province, where spicy food is king and the signature spice of the region–the Sichuan Peppercorn–gives dishes a unique "numbing" effect. Mapo tofu is a justly popular menu item in many Chinese restaurants.
Instructions to make Mopu Tofu:
- A. - Cube tofu and cook in a simmering water for few minutes. Add some salt. Gently remove from the pot and drain. Keep aside. Place minced meat in a pot with enough water covering the meat. Over medium heat, cook until meat is done. Remove and drain.
- Cooking the dish - Sauté B until aromatic. Add minced meat. Stir to combine for a minute. Season with C. Keep stirring, adjust taste accordingly. Cook over medium heat. Add D (thickening sauce). Stir until the sauce thickened. Start with only 1/2 C of water. Add cornstarch mixture. As for cornstarch, start with a teaspoon + 2 tbsp of water. Stir well. Check consistency. Add another half of water and another tsp of cornstarch for preferred consistency.
- Carefully slide tofu in and gently coat the tofu with meat sauce. Simmer over medium low heat for a minute. Drizzle some sesame oil on the dish and add finely chopped chili and sliced scallion/spring onion. Dish up.
It is a quickly cooked dish of braised tofu with minced pork (sometimes beef) in a bracing spicy sauce made with fermented black. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Stir in black bean mixture, tofu, and peas. Mapo Tofu is a classic Szechuan dish that features tofu covered in spices and minced meat. It pairs extremely well with rice, and may even be necessary with how spicy it can get.
