Either you can make plain and simple guliappa with the prepared fermented batter or add masala and make it spicy. Fermenting the batter is the key thing here. Guliappa also known as Gundponglu or Paniyaram or Paddu is a delicious breakfast dish that is made from the dosa batter.   1. Soak Urad dhal, fenugreek seeds, rice for 3-4 hours. Drain the extra water, using fresh water grinde urad dhal and rice to paste. Mix the paste with sooji and ferment the batter for 6 hours atleast.
  2. After batter is fermented, add salt, chopped onions, coconut pieces, cumin seeds, red chilli powder, dill leaves/coriander leaves mix well.
  3. Heat the 'Appe' making tawa- grease the oil, put the batter in tawa cups -close the lid to bake-after 4-5 minutes, turn the Appe's using spoon to bake on other side. Bake on sim heat. Now Masala Gundupongalu/ Appe/ Paniyaram is ready. Serve with chutney or Sambar gravy.
